PIRITH CEREMONY - 2024

Our school is located in the Naula area of ​​Matalai district in the central province surrounded by mountains on all four sides of the small island of Sri Lanka.
Here in Kanumulaaya village some Tamil speaking students go to Sinhala medium schools to get their education.

 Considering the educational progress of the Tamil speaking students living in the Naula area, the Ministry of Education had been negotiating for a long time to build a Tamil language school in the Naula area, through which the land for the school was given in the year 1922 with the help of Honorable Minister "Mondikkumara Koppalava".

 Director of Naula Circle Education Mr.  Amunugama Assistant Director of Education Mr.S.  The school was officially started on 15.01.1998 in "Prajasalava" hall located at Navula Kanumulayaya, as the right to start was given temporarily till the construction work was done by Mr. Prajasad Pillai.
Appointing Mr.P.Prakash to take responsibility in the school and two teachers, Mr.Ira.Muralitharan and Mrs.Vijithakala, it was started as a primary division school with approximately 59 students and 5 types of classes.

 

 The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new school building on 15.01.1998 was well attended.  The officially started school was run under the name Ma/Na/Kanumulayaya Tamil Vidyalayam.  School, cont.  It was functioning in Samurthi Mandapam in the area.

 The students and teachers ran the school in the midst of great difficulty on that road where the cows had their abode.

 In the month of January 2012, Mr. P.Prakash was promoted to the position of Assistant Director of Kotakalvi, and Sarmila Asiri, who was the Vice-Principal at that time, was appointed as the Principal.

 In the fifth month of 2012, Mr. Yogeswaran, who was the Vice-Chancellor of Rathotai Hindu College, took over as the Principal.  It is noteworthy that our school currently has 22 teachers, excellent contribution in sports, progress in education, participation in Sociology Competition, Drawing Competition, Tamil Day Competition, English Day Competition and won first place in All Sri Lankan Tamil Day Competition in 2008.  From 27.05.2015 as the new principal Mr.  R.  Senthilkumar has accepted the post and is serving till now
